There has been a closer than normal shift from thr older computers using Windows 98 to the newer faster computers using Windows 7(maybe). The downturn in the economy combined with Windows poor performance especially where Windows Vista is concerned are to blame for this.

I don't expect anyone to understand programming with this question but programming is part of it.
I have learned many good things from Python 2.5 and it many amazing modules and plugins. Python 3.0 series has come out and for justifiable reasons of the authors there will be no more support for pre-Windows XP systems. This means the newer Python 3.x series will will be backward compatible with a lot of computers still in  use.

My question-- Is there still a future in software which supports the older pre- Windows XP computers?

There's going to be a few odd programs out there that haven't been replaced yet, that require 98.  An example, someone was mentioning having to use this compiler that wouldn't run on anything newer than 98, because there was no new version for whatever reason.

You should be able to run Windows 98 in a Virtual Machine however, which is what I think alot of people do.
