Wireless/Phone capable forum

This forum type is also fully capable of being viewed on a phone in an xml style imageless pattern that is perfect for their small screens. There are three protocals for viewing this page, the very old one is WAP, does not support login, but it is the simplist of them all. Next is Wap2 and IMode, both are modern, choose whichever works best on your phone, you can login/post/whatever on those two.

Just a question, whats the difference between WAP, GPRS and iMode? They all seem the same to me.

Very old phones use WAP, newer ones can generally use WAP2 and/or IMODE, IMODE is by far the easiest to program for as it is the most html-like.

Which standards does each one support? (Or lack of, such as cookies in WAP)
And you know, I never thought I would have a use for it, but I was playing around with my own forum today, and found Imode is also better for dial up users. No images and no css. The pages are also smaller.

IMode really has the most functionality thus far, because WAP2 is not fuly finished for all things. WAP is just old and near featureless. I don't think the mode is what supports cookies or not, but whether if its the browser on the phone. SMF encodes the session ID into the url for such things anyway so it wouldn't matter.

Either the session identifier is sent with the header, or it is appended to the url, its not necessary to do here because these browsers say they are session capable.

I had to replace my old cell phone, the screen just plain wore out getting too hard to see.
Anyway using my new phone to Web browse I had no problem reading any of the topics on this forum.
Since I am not comfortable with texting on a cell phone, I took the easy way out and went to my computer for the typing,, ha.
Gotta have a little fun, otherwise life just plain sucks and you die.

The battlezone2.org forum also has a skin that can be chosen for mobile devices. works pretty well.
